The Heath Fire Department has been serving the community and Licking County since 1951. The combination department protects Heath's 12.5 square miles with a staff of 20 full-time firefighter/paramedics and volunteer firefighter/EMTs with various certifications. The department operates under the county's Mutual Aid Agreement, assisting all other fire departments in Licking County.
Our medics are also staffed with fully trained firefighters and will respond on large incidents. Each of our firehouses are located in our district to facilitate quick response time to emergencies in any part of our service area. Our service area includes all of Heath, Ohio and part of Franklin Twp., Licking County.
Some common runs a fire engine will go on include, fires, foreign odors, gas leaks, wires down, auto accidents, technical rescues, and personal assists. A fire engine may also respond to calls with the medics that require extra assistance due to the type of emergency. Sometimes a fire engine will be the first to arrive on an EMS call when our medics are out on other runs and the response time would be delayed because of medics coming from other locations or departments.
